Holkham Cottage is a wonderful property situated on the banks of the River Bure in Wroxham and provides a superb base for a holiday in this beautiful region. The comfortable accommodation for up to 4 guests includes a sunny, south-east facing, open plan living area (lounge, dining area and kitchen) with cosy lounge seating, dining table and chairs, widescreen TV, DVD player, Wi-Fi and a CD player. French doors lead out onto a private decking area where patio furniture enables guests to relax and enjoy the views over the shared lawn area and moorings to the river. The kitchen contains a dishwasher, full size electric oven and hob, kettle, toaster and microwave plus a larder fridge with a 4* freezer compartment.
Upstairs, Holkham Cottage has full height ceilings throughout and includes two good sized bedrooms, one double (with wall mounted TV) and one twin, both with built-in wardrobes and river views. The upstairs bathroom has a full-size bath (and shower over), WC, sink and shaver point. Holkham Cottage is fully insulated and double glazed, with electric heating throughout and has been maintained to a high standard. The cottage is fully inspected and cleaned ready for your arrival and features 'home from home' comforts including all linen and towels and a welcome pack of tea, coffee and biscuits.
One free allocated parking space is provided in the on-site secure car park 20 metres from the cottage.
Holkham Cottage is a non-smoking property and pets are not allowed.
Guests can enjoy fishing in season from the private grounds in which Holkham Cottage is situated and a wide range of activities are available within a short walking distance including day boat, canoe, kayak and bicycle hire. After a busy day out you can enjoy a relaxing drink in the friendly Boat Shed, less than a minute's walk from Holkham Cottage, where a range of real ales and ciders are available as well as a pool table and darts board.
From Holkham Cottage, a short walk over the historic Wroxham Bridge takes you into the town centre of Wroxham, regarded as the capital of the Norfolk Broads for many years. Wroxham is the perfect place to explore Norfolk’s wonderful inland waterways with boat hire available in town. If you plan to bring your own boat, it may be possible to arrange mooring facilities on-site (please enquire regarding mooring before booking).
Wroxham offers a range of pubs, cafes and shops as well as a supermarket to cater for all your holiday needs. There is also a railway station for easy access to the Norfolk Coast and into Norwich. The scenic Bure Valley Railway departs from Wroxham and makes for a lovely day out to the market town of Aylsham with walks and cycle rides available from the stations along the route. Or perhaps embark on a Broads Tour boat trip that departs from the marina opposite the cottage to learn some of the history of the tranquil Norfolk Broads area.
Holkham Cottage is a perfect base for your holiday to enable you to discover all that the fascinating county of Norfolk has to offer. The fine city of Norwich (8 miles away) is easily accessible by car or public transport, the sweeping sands of the coastline are only 13 miles away and the peaceful Norfolk Broads are on your doorstep. Slightly further afield, explore the historic fishing towns of Hunstanton, Sheringham and Cromer or maybe take a boat trip to see the seals at Blakeney Point. Whatever type of holiday you're looking for, this wonderful region can offer the best of everything and you should return home from your holiday totally relaxed and planning your next visit!
Short breaks are normally 3 nights over weekends (Saturday, Sunday, Monday) or 4 nights during the week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday). The cost of each short break is 75% of the weekly price. If these days don't suit you, please contact us to enquire about your preferred dates as we may be able to be flexible with short breaks.
